Hm, rentering the game was the workaround for the master merchant bug. I think you are finding too many ways to chase players away.

I won't use strong words. Programmers are not working for free, money has to be made, who knows under what pressure the game makers are?
That said, this clearly is not a finished product. If the pre-commercial version has big, obvious bugs, the commercial version will have very significant bugs too.
I don't see how this release is going to be commercially viable. To some extent I accept the bugs because I play for free. But if you pay, you want a perfect product.

The trading system has a lot of drawbacks:
- slow responding players can eat up your turn timer (on purpose)
- cant propose multiple trades at once
- cant propose trades with cards you don't have yet (but which you could obtain if you trade with bank)
- cant make counteroffers
- cant build while trading
- blocks part of the board
Basically, the current trading system very much undermines the interactive character of Catan.

I am very happy about this new update. Major improvement. Many bugs and loopholes are gone. Most importantly, the incentives to stall or leave the game are gone. It makes a HUGE difference instantly. Still, there are people who leave but it doesn't feel so bad anymore because you get rewarded.
I have read some of the criticisms but to me most of them seem to be minor points.

I am fine with the timer, it makes the game more fluid and exhilariating. First time my turn was capped off, I was totally sad, and second time even more frustrated - but now I have learned the lesson. It prevents 2-hr long boring games and it makes everyone play quickly.
One suggestion for improvement is that you should be able to build and to play dev cards while proposing trades.
