Event Cards

  • These are suggestions to help speed the game up and make the robber less irritating:

    1. Penalty for slow players: each time the clock exceeds the maximum allotted time, the maximum allotted time for the player’s next turn is halved (minimum 7 seconds); each time the clock beats the maximum allotted time, the maximum allotted time is doubled (maximum 60 seconds).
    2. Option to trade embargo: turn off trading with specific players.
    3. Option to flash Knight cards: Reveal Knight cards during other players’ turns. This could discourage players from using the robber against you.
    4. Replace robber with 50 event cards: When a player rolls a 7 then all players discard their excessive cards and an event card is drawn; the player then places it on any qualifying hex (as noted) and either will choose one person to affect or will affect all players with cities, towns, or roads adjacent to that hex (as noted):
      a. (7) Thieves (any hex) – player picks only one person to rob, random card (essentially same as the robber in the game now)
      b. (6) Pirates (any coastal hex) – player picks only one person to rob, random card
      c. (5) Brigands (forest, hills, or desert) – player picks only person one to rob, random card
      d. (4) Famine (any hex) – players affected discard one wool and one grain card
      e. (4) Epidemic (any hex with city, discard if no cities in play) – players affected randomly discard one card
      f. (3) Flood (pastureland or field) – players affected randomly discard one card, player can pick one road to remove
      g. (3) Wild Fire (forest) – players affected discard one lumber
      h. (3) Disease (pastureland) – players affected discard one wool
      i. (3) Draught (field or pastureland) – players affected discard one wool if field or one grain if pastureland
      j. (3) Landslide (hills or mountains) – player picks one person to remove one road
      k. (3) Sand Storm (desert) – players affected either randomly discard one card or pick one road to remove
      l. (2)Tornado (grass or wheat) – players affected randomly discard one card and pick one road to remove
      m. (1) Earthquake (hills or mountains) – players affected can either reduce one city to town, eliminate town, or pick one road to remove - deck is reshuffled
      n. (1) Volcano (mountains) – players affected can either reduce one city to town, eliminate town, or pick one road to remove - deck is reshuffled
      o. (1) Tsunami (coast) – players affected can either reduce one city to town, eliminate town, or pick one road to remove - deck is reshuffled
      p. (1) Hurricane (coast) – players affected can either reduce one city to town, eliminate town, or pick one road to remove - deck is reshuffled
A town or city with no road cannot collect any resources.
